CAPITAL SIDELINE
PRESS ROOM
DMV high school sports

You already shot the game.
Get it seen.

Capital Sideline covers high school sports across the DMV, which means Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia. We are based in Montgomery County. You upload your photos and a few lines about what happened. It becomes a real article on the site, and it goes out across our socials to about 30,000 followers.

The thing we actually want: your work on the web, not just on Instagram. A post scrolls past in a day. An article on the site gets found by parents, players and recruiters for years, and it carries your name every time.

Four ways to file

01Photos and a few lines Start here

Upload your shots and add whatever you have. A few notes, the score, a quick recap. Literally the caption you were going to put on Instagram is enough. That gets turned into a full article, you read it over and change anything you want, and then it runs.

You do not have to get the writing right. I read every piece before it goes out, tidy it up, fix anything that reads oddly and fill in what is missing. Send me the rough version.

If you can write three sentences, you can file a story. This is the one that builds the site, so lean this way whenever you can.

02Just photos

Upload your shots from a game and stop there. They go into the shared library and get pulled into coverage later, always credited to you.

03Write it yourself For writers

Built for people who want to write. Full control over the story, your voice, your structure, and either bring your own photos or pull them from the shared library.

Open to photographers too if you would rather write it out yourself. It is just not the road you have to take.

04Video

Highlights, interviews, sideline clips. Once the desk approves them they go out to TikTok, YouTube, Reels, Facebook and more.

Fill in the game info

Teams, sport, date, final score. It takes about ten seconds and it is the part that makes everything else work.

That information is how your photos get filed and found. When somebody writes about that team or that game three weeks from now, your shots get pulled in and used again, with your credit on them. Photos with no game info mostly just sit there.

You get credit, every time

However you file, your name goes with it. You set your own credit line in Settings, whether that is your name, your Instagram handle, or however you want it to read, and it travels with your work everywhere it gets used.

The agreement, in plain English

Most people click straight through it, so here is what it actually says. The full text is at press.capitalsideline.com/license.
